Spring cleaning!

So I’ve decided that, in my hope to improve the quality of my videos, I will be starting to filter and retire older videos. Videos like some of the instructional ones I’ve made will be staying. Videos of me doing rants on now-old news topics, will definitely be going. I’ve gone through a lot of changes over the last year since I started doing a motorcycle vlog. I think I’ve learned enough in the past year to really start putting together something of what I hope will be better quality, and overall more entertaining to watch. This year I will try to maintain a more strict schedule, with hopes of releasing at least 1 video every weekend, most likely on Sunday. This will give me plenty of time during the week to do some editing / riding, and a full day on Saturday to come up with some new stuff. Unless there’s something extremely awesome I just HAVE to get into a video, I’d like to not over-saturate my uploads per week like I did last year. That lead to some potentially not great videos, and me getting burnt out.

That aside, I hope you enjoy the latest video with the newly acquired POV HD. I still need to tweak some things but I’m seeing a great opportunity with this camera. Sometime this week I’ll sit down and do a full walk-through of my whole setup.

Thanks again guys! – Spunk

So I went ahead and bought the new VIO POV HD camera system. After reading countless reviews and watching many different example videos, I felt the new POV HD would give me a big boost in the quality of my videos. This is just the first big step I’m taking to try to make more entertaining and creative videos.

While the price tag is a little more steep than some other helmet cams, I felt the more advanced options on the POV HD would prove very useful to me and my film style. The tagging system, essentially book-marking user defined areas of footage, really appealed to me. It will also be nice to be able to record all the time when I ride and not in 10 minute increments like on my old setup.

I should be getting it in the mail this coming week and will do a review video as soon as I can. Can’t wait to try this thing out! Make sure to check out the camera as well as this impressive company below.

Additional video topics

So besides riding videos, are there any other video topics you want to see me do? One topic I think I might start covering more on are game reviews since I am a self admitted game junkie. Let me know what you want to see and i’ll try to make it happen!

Being a homeowner

So I have to admin, being a new homeowner has definitely presented its fair share of surprises! Between working and sleeping, all it seems I do now is repair stuff around the house. It’s not a bad thing as It keeps me busy, but now that everything is finally starting to settle I can step back and breathe. I haven’t been on the bike in quite a while and am missing that metal between my legs! The good news is I now have a new way to get videos uploaded a bit easier so hopefully things should start progressing!

If you have been wondering why I haven’t made any videos or posts this last month, It’s because I’ve been busy buying my first home. I’m really excited and am still settling in, so once everything is all prettied up and in it’s place I’ll start on some videos. :D

Here is a little bicycle vlog I did while I was visiting LA. I stayed in Santa Monica near the foot of the mountains, within walking distance of the beach. I was there for 5 days and it was definitely an experience.

One of the things I did while I was there was rent a bicycle and rode down the entire bike path that they had along the beach. It was amazing weather, good people, and fun times!

Lack of content?

Hey peoples.

So for the last month or so I haven’t been doing much in regards to SpunkyFL. I haven’t even ridden that much as a matter of fact. I have ridden maybe 2 or 3 times in the last month. I definitely see this as a problem and will try to remedy this :D

As far as why I haven’t done much in terms of videos, there’s really not one answer. I guess I just needed a break from everything as work was getting pretty intense along with getting ready for a little mini vacation that I just had (which was awesome by the way). I think I finally fixed all the issues that the forums were having, so now all I need is more people to join as they’re kind of dead lately.

I think the other part of me not getting out much is that the core group I ride with has not been meeting up. We always miss each other when it comes to plans and recently a buddy of mine just went down and thrashed his bike pretty good, so he’s definitely not going to make it out with us for a while.

All-in-all I think things will be getting better though in terms of the forums and videos. At least I hope so because keeping all this stuff up and running is starting to cost me a pretty penny ;)

So I FINALLY got a new video up. I’m still taking it easy on the bike until my new rear tire gets here, which should be tomorrow or the next day! YAY! I got a new Pilot Power 2ct so I’m pretty stoked about, I loves me some new rubber! Anyways, this is a video explaining the first part of my drive down to visit Texas. I had some pretty crazy stuff happens and this video is only the first part of it. I’ll have the other half of the story up soon ;)

So the other weekend I finally got the bike out to get down and dirty to clean the chain. I used WD-40 to really soak it to break up the grime and funk. Using a grunge brush, a lot of shop towels, and a rag, I was able to get it pretty clean. Probably next weekend I’ll need to take it back out and really give the bike another good scrub down, hopefully I’ll have a new tire by then because my current tire is pretty bald. My shoes had more traction last night on the bike than my rear tire did. I’ll be getting some Pilot Power 2ct’s! Should be some good rubber.

Here’s some pics of the grunge brush labor. Click thumbnails for the full res.
